On this fated night, my journey into womanhood began. It was the Christmas party my eighth grade year. My friend and I were both joking that we should sit on Santa's lap- I'm not exactly sure why we thought it would be funny- but I did.
When I got home that night, much to my dismay, I found out that I was the cause for Santa's RED pants!!! Note the classy sweatshirt tied around my waist, which was actually a little blessing from heaven that no one saw the evidence of my first 'visitor'!
The beauty continues on into my ninth grade year. Note the cowboy style button up, collar turned up, permed hair, ultra oily face, and large white scrunchie! I am pretty sure I made that scrunchie myself- just one of the many I had made.
When I was a 10th grader, we did a ballet dance to "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. Notice my dance partner, Jared Clontz, and his hunky mullet. I'm not sure if it was the mullet or the shadow mustache that made me like him more. My Dad used to make fun of the way that the beautiful scallop design on the top of my unitard framed my mosquito bites. Thanks Dad!
When I was a 11th grader, I had moved from the bangs and scrunchie stage to what my Mom called my lions mane! Such an awkward time of life- you couldn't pay me to do it again.
Stay tuned.... I don't want Adam to feel left out of the Ode to Puberty!

Loved the pictures!!
LOVE it!! Nothing like an unexpected visit from Aunt Flo! And I think the "lion's mane" is due for a comeback!
Oh how I loved this post - HILARIOUS! Thanks for the good laugh. I can't really mock any of your hair styles cause I think I have sported them all. I think the pink underwear look over the green leotard (even though I am sure it was all just one piece) is too funny. Love that Brandi and Joni got to make it into the post as well. I could post about my 'puberty' story, but since mine happened so late in life I would look exactly the same. LOL. Good thing you had that sweatshirt!
How funny!!! I think we can all relate. I was in math class and I had to get up and ask the teacher a question . Then I sat back down and received the news from the School Basketball Star. I don't know what was more red my face or my pants! Thank goodness he had said something. He was very sweet about it. I also had a sweatshirt in my locker it was quickly wrapped around my waist.
Ok, your post has me laughing so hard. I love it! I'm totally jealous of the green/pink costume. But mostly I'm just jealous of your partner. I, like Megan, am also glad to see that Brandi and Joni made the post. Ahhhh, such sweet memories! Here's something funny and random. I keep having these nightmares lately where I'm performing on stage and I can't remember the dance, I'm in the wrong costume, etc. It's awful. I never had those dreams while I was actually dancing. I wonder why they're coming up now....Now bring on the pics of Adam!
haha, this post was hilarious, i love it! thank goodness for the sweatshirt, merry christmas to you huh!? ah, you joni and brandi, i loved you guys, but in secret was a little afraid of brandi sometimes..haha that feels good to get off my chest. :-)
Oh lovely puberity. I loved the pics and the hair. You better watch out it just might be the next trend. What a great mother nature story too. I recall mine coming in the k-mart dressing room.
Talk about a blast from the past! You are one brave girl to put those pictures out for all to see. I think I burned or buried all of mine!
No really, thanks a million for the laughs! I needed that today!
Those are some of the hottest pictures I have EVER seen! :)
You look much better than I did during those awkward years. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to post my pictures from that time of my life!
I LOVE your pictures! The top one totally looks like Braydon! I don't think I am going to publish my perils of puberty. somethings are better left hidden:)
