Bekah's indoor soccer season came to an end Monday night. They had a fun time and learned a lot throughout the season! Adam called it a 'building year' as none of the girls had ever played indoor before and they let the other teams win every game! It didn't get them down though and Bekah is looking forward to playing on a travel team this spring (with Dad still as her coach!)
Our long awaited appointment with the pediatric otolaryngologist (have no idea if I spelled that right) came on Thursday. Even the specialist cannot see Emma's ear drum! We will start to unravel the great hearing mystery with the removal of her tonsils and adenoids, either late this week or early next. While they have her under, they will also check if she has fluid in her ears. If yes, they will put in tubes. If no, we will return for a CAT scan once Emma has fully recovered from her surgery. The Dr suggested that Emma will need to stay out of school and all activities for 2 WEEKS. It felt like a death sentence the moment it left her mouth! Has anyone else had their school-age child's tonsils and adenoids removed and if so, what was their recovery like? Adam and I both feel confident in our Dr and the path ahead!
All the kids were very excited for Valentine's this year. Cooper and Emma were both eagerly awaiting their class parties- as was I, since I am the party Mom for both classes and the Valentines party is the final party of the year. Both parties were great!
I made my usual pink heart pancakes with bacon and OJ for breakfast today. Adam and I gave each of the kids a valentine candy-since their valentine cards for school could not include any treats.
Here's the kids all ready for church! (We had to stay after church today for a parent meeting, so the kids were all packing a lunch- Brayden chose cold pizza!)
We have Winter Break this week- so the kids and I are going with Adam on his business trip to upstate NY until Thursday. It will be fun to get away- even for a few days!

I hope all goes well with Emma! I'm sure it will be a relief when the mystery is solved. How do you get the pink in the pancakes?
I am LOVING that you are updating!! I am so excited to get to hear what is going on, and see your beautiful BIG kids! They have grown up so much!! LOVE YOU!!!
Good luck with Emaa and her tonsils. You are such a fun mom, I will have to remember to make Amira pink heart pancakes when she gets older. Have fun on your little getaway!
I just love that EMMA!
Jamie had her tonsils out when she was 6. It went really well. We moved the t.v. in her room which was exciting and she loved the fact that she could eat all the ice cream and slushies she wanted. I hope everything goes smoothly!
Good luck with Emma, that does not sound fun, and I will be sending good vibes your way ;) Anna was the same with with friends. ANYTIME we leave a friend or families house she always asks 'will I ever see them again?' Like it is the end of the world or something. lol.
Crazy that kids can't bring candy to school. I mean, I would kind of like it then they aren't eating candy for days afterwords....or better yet, I wouldn't be eating their candy for days later ;) but what is VDay without some candy?!
Catherine had hers out at the end of kindergarten. They were so large, they nearly touched. She did fine with the surgery. The second day was hard to keep her hydrated. She wouldn't swallow. So we ended up in the ER on the morning of day 3 for IVs to rehydrate her. Other than that it went very smoothly, by day 4 and 5 she was back to normal.
She had a couple new movies, and some friends brought her activity or coloring books, stickers, and colored pencils, etc.
Good Luck. We'll remember in our prayers.
Have Emmas' ear/hearing problems been in just one ear or both? You might want to look/think back over the years if both or just one ear has been effected. Christian had repeated ear infections and hearing loss and ended up getting ear tubes placed in both ears but when looking into it further it was mostly in one ear and the problem ended up being a 'cholesteatoma' in one ear that was predisposing him to repeated ear infections and affecting his hearing in that ear.
Doctors will always go down the most common path dealing with repeated ear infections and hearing loss first (which is to place ear tubes or remove tonsils and adenoids) unless you can tease out some detail/s that would have them look for something less common.
Good luck and let us know if you have questions. We miss you guys !
Hey there stranger. I am glad I am now blogging so I can keep up to date on you as well. I am sorry about Emma I am not sure what is really going on but want you to know you are in our prayers. My Emma still asks about her friend Emma. I love to show her your blog so she can see her. I will call you to get the whole update. Take care. I do believe we were all friends in Heaven.....
