I'm sorry I have been so long in posting this! If you have not already heard, prayers are answered! Maybe not always in the way we think or when we want it, but our Heavenly Father always hears our prayers!
On Wednesday, March 24, Emma and I went to her follow-up doctors appointment. Dr. Olhms, our otolaryngologist, had asked us to make her follow-up appointment in the Waltham office so she could run all the necessary tests to find out the cause of the hearing loss. Following surgery, it is routine to re-check the hearing before seeing the doctor. After Emma's hearing test the audiologist said that Emma's hearing was above average now. WHAT??? When we met with Dr. Olhms, she said that Emma could now hear at 10 decibels across all frequency's in both ears!! She said that what she had done medically and what she observed during surgery, would not account for this remarkable hearing gain!! She told me that whatever we'd been doing at home (praying) had worked! We go back in 6 months to recheck her tubes and her hearing!
Emma is adjusting to her new hearing. At first, she would get headaches after being in a public place for more than 10 minutes and when she first went back to school, she would suddenly get up from her desk and go stand alone. Can you say sensory overload? She is learning to filter noises, but still cannot be in the bathroom if I am using the hairdryer. She actually asks me to turn DOWN the car radio!! It's amazing and we feel very blessed!
Thank you so much for all your thoughts, prayers, and help as we faced this storm! Life is full of sunny days, cloudy days, and even terrible storms. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, will always be with us to help us weather the storm!
